One quote that stood out to me was "drawing is a feeling, an attitude that is betrayed in its handling as much as in the materials used." I completely agree with this quote. Drawing, to me, acts as an outlet for any emotions that an artist wishes to convey to an audience. It allows viewers to be drawn into a distinct environment in which they can recognize an idea in a different light. The feeling or emotion that is revealed in a drawing can be influenced by the way it is implemented. Artists like Hayden Williams, produce renderings of designs with materials as basic as pens and markers, yet his creations emit a dominant, sassy and feminine attitude. The use of these basic materials complements his ideas well because they seem to elevate the quality of the renderings, making them desirable and intriguing. This is an example of a good drawing, in my opinion, because it depicts a level of obscurity which gains a feeling of mystery behind the woman who wears it. The garment is composed of lace and a thick velvety material. Lace seems appropriate to incorporate because it only reveals a certain amount of the body, just as the mask she wears only reveals a certain amount of the face.
